To My Friend: Spring a New Leaf, Synthetic Wigs On Me

July 4th, 2009

I didn’t think the sparkling Caroline Sharp, my high school BFF, might someday own and wear medical wigs. Her terrific hair was synonymous with her attitude. Get this. Our favorite gal is still celebrated for her trademark toss ‘n turn. Very few can tell she dons quality black wigs. It’s not so unusual.

Back in the day as kids growing up in the hill country, we always took turns winning Miss “SCH” four years running. In our twenties her alopecia took its toll and her hair thinned spottily. I mentioned a few lace wigs. Even so she just shaved her head. Even on bad days she somewhat obnoxiously never let you forget about her innate beauty.

Appearing at our alma mater’s baseball championship, we heckled till someone retardedly threw the ball (or however you say it) at us. Quick on her feet, she dove for the ball and her cute little hat landed in a beer, uncovering her naked head. No big deal, she lobbed it playfully back to the field. What’d I tell ya about her spunk?

Of course, everyone has insecurities. Not too long after she invited me over for a stroll to the art gallery, when she sat me down and revealed that she opts to make do with a shorn head as a statement. She would never become dependent on beautiful wigs, despite the fact that she wanted her hair back. She then the punk turned flush red and begged that I dismiss the notion. I had to oblige.

There was no way to get her words out of my head. The next morning, I talked about taking care of this wig problem. Finally we both arrived at the perfect solution: we’d buy each other wigs. We have a knack for making online wig shopping fun.

Not sure who was more stunned by the options. She couldn’t believe that wigs could be very appealing for people, even superstars. These synthetic wigs complimented her natural beauty. I built a completely modern set of outfits around my wig. We do it all together, forever and always. Recently she thanked me for giving her back her hair, and confessed it brought about a feminine mystique for many occasions. It’s encouraging to realize her float about as light as a feather. She’s a better person, with the same confidence.

It doesn’t sound very promising, but in reality if you mean to live in the Land of Smiles for a few years, such poorly paid jobs aren’t a worry since Thailand is a low- priced place to live, the infrastructure is the best in South East Asia, it’s a safe country, and there’s nonetheless every opportunity to further your career and get some useful work experience.

This problem hits a lot of non-Thai nationals in Thailand a year or so after deciding to work there. Long- term future plans can often be put on hold since you don’t have the nest egg of money to put into action any plan like purchasing a property, buying a car, or getting married.

Consequently, key point : when considering working in the Land of Smiles, also remember that it is very difficult to bank meaningful quantities of cash when thinking about the prices of “back home”.

All the same, it’s not all about cash is it? You can gain a wonderful experience in Thailand, perhaps learn the language, make friends, go travelling around Thailand when you have time off work, and gain some invaluable work experience.

So what kind of job positions can you find in Thailand? Looking at jobs-quality.com - a website listing jobs in the Bangkok and Chonburi districts of Thailand - they have listed HR job positions, Admin job positions, engineering work placements in Thailand, safety officer job positions etc. Essentially the sort of job positions you’d discover in your home country. Even though the majority of these jobs may be looking for a Thai speaker, there are still English-speaking prerequisites for job posts within many multinational organizations established in Thailand.

The Cost of Geneva Transfers Persists in Being Slashed

June 26th, 2009

Getting from the plane to your ski resort is so simple.

Nowadays there are a choice of transfer companies working at the airport in Geneva, this has meant the price of airport ski transfers coming down significantly.

It is no longer the case that there were barely a handful airport transfer companies to decide on.

Now the holiday maker has a number of choices, with virtually all transfer companies operating a number of modern buses.

Indeed if you are vacationing in the Chamonix valley then a transfer can take just an hour, and cost 25 Euros.

The short transfer time, and the reduced costs of a Geneva Chamonix transfer, has meant that skiing weekends have become more popular as holiday makers opt to take less vacation time, but still wish to revel in their skiing breaks.

Ski weekends are set to remain popular as avid snowboarders are still keen to have a ski break, but may not wish take a full 7 days off work in part due to the economic crisis.

The other benefit of lower Chamonix transfer costs is that the costs of snowboarding breaks keeps on falling.

Skiing hire is surely more reasonable than we are used to, especially if you take the option to book on the internet before you head out snowboarding.

And whilst the weakness of the pound sterling versus the euro means things are costlier in the ski town, if you’re booking a luxury catered chalet then nearly all of the trip vacation is paid for in pounds sterling before you arrive.

Redraws

June 26th, 2009

In online poker, a redraw is like an insurance policy. A redraw is when you’ve made a casino online hand already, but you’re also drawing to a better hand. It’s one of the best feelings in online poker. You’ve already got a good hand, but just in case someone has a better one, you have a draw for an even better one.

I was playing in an online tournament when I was dealt pocket 8’s. I was the big blind, and the whole table decided to call, so I checked and hoped for a good flop. It came with a 7-8-K of diamonds, good news and bad news. The good news was that I made my set, but the bad news was that there was a distinct flush draw on the board. I stayed in for a round of betting, hoping that either no one made the flush yet, or I could draw another 8. After a tense few seconds, the dealer turned over the fourth card-another 7, making my full house. The last card gave two other players flushes, and they both called me all-in. When you are playing poker, make sure you know all of your outs, because there might be a redraw that you don’t see.

What have I been reading of late, What I suppose about twitter and why blogging is the best.

June 25th, 2009

I have been taking in a lot of great new blogs of late. I am unconvinced about all the twitter tizzy. I still enjoy blogs and have a substantial number in my feed reader.

The cool thing about blogs is that you can find hidden gems, and they are from people that in reality like to write.

Sure you can find some chill souls on twitter. But, seriously, twitter is for masses with add or who dont like to write normal posts. Yes, stacks of people twitter and also blog, and those souls are chill by me, but I am always and eternally a blog devotee.

Blogs pressure the author to in reality articluate their view. Twitter on the other hand merely lets you to say it. Call me old fashioned but I consider there is a point where smaller is no longer hotter. We have been obsessed with miniturization for so long. Especially when it comes to technology. Certainly there has to be a place where we see substance matters. Value matters. What do you think?

Maybe the practical answer lies in equilibrium. And compromise. You cannot pressure individuals to have heart and soul and not be shallow. But, too maybe you need to drive the neo libral hippies to lighten up a fraction aswell?
